PADI UNDERWATER NAVIGATOR COURSE

The Underwater Navigator Diver Specialty course provides divers with the skills to plan and organize navigating a dive, also the techniques and problems of underwater navigation along with the enjoyment and satisfaction when you get it right.

Required age/certification level

Minimum age:  10 years old and Padi Open Water Diver certification, or have a qualifying certification from another organization.

There are knowledge reviews in the Padi Underwater Navigator manual which must be completed and reviewed by the instructor during a classroom session when you will also watch the Padi Underwater Navigator video.

There are 3 dives  in the Underwater Navigator Course

Open Water Training Dive One

Natural and Compass Navigation

By the end of this open water training session, you will:

Determine the average number of kick cycles and/or the average amount of time required to cover a distance of approximately 30 metres/100 feet while swimming underwater at a normal, relaxed pace while maintain neutral buoyancy during the dive.  Navigate to a predetermined location and return to within 15 metres/50 feet of the starting point using natural references and estimated distance measurement (kick cycles or time). Demonstrate the correct positioning and handling of a compass needed to maintain an accurate heading while swimming underwater. Navigate to a predetermined location and return to within 6 metres/20 feet of the starting point using a compass and estimated distance measurement (kick cycles or time).

Swim a square pattern underwater returning to within 8 metres/25

feet of the starting point using a compass and beginning from a fixed

location.

Open Water Training Dive Two

Navigating a Predetermined Course With A Compass

By the end of this open-water training session, you will:

Demonstrate the correct compass positioning and handling needed to

maintain an accurate heading while swimming underwater. Navigate a predetermined course (provided by the instructor prior to the dive) with more than five compass turns, returning to the starting point within 15 meters/50 feet of the exit, without surfacing. Fix a specific underwater location to be relocated on a future dive, using two permanent sets of landmarks with an angle of at least 60° between them, or using a compass bearing.

Open-Water Training Dive Three

By the end of this open-water training session, you will:

Navigate a Compass Course with Headings on Underwater Markers while

demonstrating correct compass positioning and handling needed to maintain an accurate heading while swimming under water and drawing a map of the underwater area covered by the course conducted during the dive.

Equipment Required

Each diver must have a snorkel, mask, fins, scuba cylinder, buoyancy

control device with low-pressure inflator, regulator a secondary air source, a submersible pressure gauge, a dive knife, a compass and a Nav-Finder

Prices    ( Excluding equipment rental.)

2+People = $240.00 each   Private = $340.00
